Hello Mr. and Mrs. Arenson,
Thank you very much for the information!
Tomorrow's conference will be mediated by Dr. Joseph Demer, Dr. Sherwin Isenberg, and Dr. Arthur Rosenbaum (all pediatric ophthalmologists from UCLA). It will be attended by ophthalmologists from Harbor UCLA, Martin Luther King Hospital, and Jules Stein (usually about 20 people all together). Bryce will be 1 of 5 children who will be presented (only one child with parent(s) in the room at a time). The cases will all be difficult cases (like Bryce's) that everyone can benefit from learning about.
Thank you again for coming!

Dear Bryce,

I think I may have what you have. I noticed a bump in my neck by my collarbone a few weeks ago and it has gotten larger since. I went to my doctor right away and he said he was 90% sure it is Lymphoma. A week later I seen a specialist, and he said he doesn't know what it is until he takes it out, in which I would have a biopsy and he scheduled it for March 13th 2001. Ever since I found out I have been researching it, and I came across your story and it was very touching. I am not scared anymore because if you can go through this than I can do it too. You truly are an inspiration to me, thank you to you and your parents for putting your story online. I am 16 and my name is Wendy. Hope we can keep in touch, I will e-mail you back after my biopsy to let you know what it is.

Dear Bryce,

My name is Debbie. I live in Sydney, Australia. Actually I live just outside Sydney in a beautiful place called the Blue Mountains. They are called the Blue Mountains because from Sydney the mountains look blue.

I was going through this internet site because a friends little boy has a lump in his neck and he is having some blood tests. I was looking up some information for her. I hope he is not sick.

I looked at hour photos and read your story about your family and I thought to myself, 'now here is a little boy who is very brave and loving'. I really justed wanted to send you some good wishes.

I have two girls. Emma is 9 and Grace is 6.

I really hope you get better soon Bryce and I will think of you in my prayers.

Take care honey.

Warmest regards,

DEBBIE CARR

Hello and happy 2000 to your family. I wrote to you once before, several months ago, about our little boy Christopher (now 20 months old). We began 2 years of maintenance therapy 2 weeks ago, and I wondered if you could answer a question for me.

Since Christopher really can't talk yet, I was hoping Bryce could tell me about any specific drug side effects that bother him, so that I can better understand what Christopher may be feeling. Specifically, if Bryce takes Methotrexate orally during maintenance, I wondered if it makes him feel tired or sick the next day. Christopher always seems to have a bad day the day after his Methotrexate dose, but I just don't know what he's feeling.

Any tidbits you can offer would be very helpful and appreciated. Chris is on daily 6-MP, weekly Methotrexate, 5 days/month Prednisone, monthly Vincristine, and every 12 weeks ITMX.

I hope you are doing well Bryce, and enjoying fewer trips to the hospital and doctors offices - I know I am!

Thanks for anything you can share,

Kathi

Hi Bryce. Was just reading your letter and was very touched. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. You are lucky to have two very loving parents who didn't give up and listen to the doctor's in the beginning. Luckily the doctors did more tests and they were able to find out what the problem was and got it right away. I will be praying for you and hope you get better real soon. You look adorable in your pictures. Hang in there.

Dear Mom and Dad of Bryce,
You need to be complimented on your persistence. You probably just saved your little boys life. I'm glad the doctor's listened to you and did more tests. My sister, who lives in Phoenix, had a son who was seven at the time we found out he had non-hodgkins lymphoma. He had a lump on his neck and they kept telling us it was a virus. Weeks went by and we couldn't fight enough to get a doctor to test this more. The lump kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally, after changing about 7 doctors, we found one that would test further and found that. Scottie was diagnosed in September of '87 and we lost him in April of '88. It was obviously too far gone by the time we found out. He is our little angel now who is with us always and he is who I pray to when I hear of things like this. You have a beautiful little boy, a precious gift and you fought to help him and I commend you for that. Always go with your instincts no matter what anyone else thinks. I wish you all the luck in the world and I will pray for you and Bryce daily in my prayers. All my thoughts and prayers.

Good Morning Bryce,

A week ago we had our 2nd Annual "Relay for Life." "Relay" is the signature fund raising event of the American Cancer Society. It's a twenty-four hour event. It's an event where we celebrate cancer survivors and cancer victors as well as hold out hope for a cure. Anyway, I wanted to tell you as I participated in that event with my five year old son, I thought a lot about you. I thought about how brave you are in your fight against cancer.

When you came into our office to make the donation of money that you had raised we were all really touched. You see, Bryce, you are such a noble and strong little boy. You care about others and that make us care about you.

As a young boy I also had cancer and I know how tough it is. However, keep the faith and know that my son Chase and I are praying for your speedy recovery.

Bryce, thank you for being a role model for all of us.

Sincerely,

Woody Brokenburr, President
Greater Conejo Valley Chapter
American Cancer Society

Hi Bryce!

My name is Casey Godelfer, and I had ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia) when
I was little. Just like you, I was diagnosed in pre-school, and I went
through 3 years of intensive chemotherapy and about 3 years of follow up
treatments. After all that, I still went back for the next 8 years or so
to get check-ups. I'm now 18 years old and a student at Stanford
University, though I am originally from New Orleans. I just want to tell
you to keep smiling and laughing because that's what helps you most. I'm
perfectly healthy now (with the occasional sports injury); no one even
knows I was sick. I hope to become a pediatric oncologist one day so I can
help find a cure for the disease that took away so many years of my
childhood. Just remember you can do anything you want to do with the help
of your family. I know I've been extremely lucky and would like to share
some of my luck with you, so best wishes for the future. I hope you feel
better soon!

Your friend,
Casey

Subject: I currently live in the paradise island

Hi all,
My name is Bernard Morin and I currently live in the paradise
islands of the Seychelles. The other day I was going through some
information on Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma when I came across Bryce's site.
My girlfriend (23 years of age) who by the way lives way down south in
Australia also suffers from Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma but was diagnosed
with it after she was already in the third stage. So far she has been
through the first doses of CHOP chemo, but unfortunately the cancer did
not go even though it decreased in size to less then a centimeter. After
a break of about three months where I traveled to Australia for five of
the weeks she has been put back on another dose of stronger chemo called
Eshack. She also does another treatment of monoclonal antibodies to try
and attack the cancer cell instead of all the cells in your body
(MabThera).
The latest results which we got last week showed some good news, though
it could be better we are praying and keeping positive. The photos of
your son on the internet have been an inspiration to me as through all
the pain of the treatment he has done he always has a smile on his face.
He is a very strong boy and any parent who had a son like Bryce would be
very proud of him. Nathalie my girlfriend and I are planning to be
married end of this year or beginning of next year and I promise I will
send a photo. Her hair fell off the first time and now after growing
again has fallen off for the second time. I have shaved my head three
times since we have been fighting the cancer to show her that whatever
she goes through I will gladly go through it with her.
From now on when ever I pray I will always include your son in my
prayers and will keep in touch with Bryce. Be strong little man and
remember that on some island somewhere you have somebody thinking and
praying for you.

Bernard Morin
